Hot Vidya Balan Interview
Hot Vidya Balan Interview
The girls are talking about you, the women want to be like you, and the men fancy you. Can I call you the 'obsession of the year'? (Laughs out loud) Kya baat hai! That's very flattering. Thank you so much. I don't know how to react to that but it does pay off to be a bad girl sometimes.
And it pays off to be a good mother as well.
Yes, that's true. And they are two completely different individuals, personalities so diverse that you'll be shocked.
Can you recall your flirty days?
Oh yes! I think flirting is a very healthy way to any relationship. I can't recall any one instance of my days when I used to flirt. Probably, there are too many! (Laughs)
You did this sudden disappearing act and then did two films in a year and everyone goes ga-ga about you.
We should talk every day - the way you're asking me questions, it boosts my ego. No, it's not deliberate from my side to be doing fewer films. I choose work and do it if it excites me, which is why people think I do this disappearing act. I get mentally switched off from everything else once I'm doing a film. Maybe I'm just too bad at multi-tasking and that's why I'm inaccessible sometimes.
But I feel you're a director's actor. How do you feel?
You may be right. I think I'm fortunate to work with people who are as passionate about their films as much as I'm passionate about acting. Maybe much more.
If you're talking about Vishal Bhardwaj or Vidhu Vinod Chopra, both eat, drink and breathe cinema. Everything else for them is incidental. That is the beauty of it. And thus a good film is made by them every time they are behind the camera. So, yes, you are a director's actor when you work with them a lot.
So you show the real thing but still make it sound unreal?
Not really. The context is different because it's set in a small town and you feel that you can't identify with what these people are going through, but when it comes to emotions, wherever you are in the world, it'll connect with you. We are no longer in denial.
How do you define your own originality?
I'm not trying to be different. I make use of the best opportunities I get. Some may work and some may not, but I'm extremely passionate about my profession and I truly live in it.
Have you exhausted all your talent in Ishqiya?
No. Not at all. I think there will be new limits every time. I'm enjoying my work so much that I'm giving it more and more and more and, yet, at some level, it's not a strain any more. My understanding of characters is getting easier, I feel, through every film. After all, I'm growing myself and improving myself.
What kind of a man would you prefer?
Someone who is very self-assured.
What if someone made a pass at you?
If someone flirted with me, it would be fine. I mean, I would prefer that men don't make a pass at me. There has to be some talking and knowing each other.
Define 'Ishq'. ----- Ishq is something that makes everything seem worthwhile and thoda kaccha hai jee.
And define 'Ishqiya'. ---- It’s edgy!

Vidya Balan Hot News about Latest Movie Ishqiya
In Vidya Balan Upcoming Latest Movie Ishqiya Movie, two low life criminals, Naseeruddin Shah (Khalujaan) and Arshad Warsi (Babban), fall in love with Vidya Balan. Krishna’s husband is a leading citizen of the underworld. To escape her nagging to surrender, he engineers an explosion, which enables him to fake his death.
An unsuspecting Krishna believes it is murder. The purpose of her life now is to punish those who she thinks killed him. So when the middle-aged Khalujaan and the young Babban arrive at Krishna’s house in Kharagpur, fleeing the gangster boss whom they have double-crossed, Krishna right away finds them useful.
She doesn’t waste time, and turns on her bodily charms in full flow so that both men stay hooked long enough and close enough to carry out her plan of kidnapping a steel tycoon, the false phantom who she believes is behind the murder-opera.
Hot Vidya Balan has played complex roles before in Pa, Guru and Parineeta. But unlike those characters, there is a startling clarity, uncharacteristic in Indian society, about Krishna’s amoral perspective of the world. She will do anything to get her way.
Krishna is the rural matriarch we always suspected was hiding in the attic of the ancestral home, but were afraid to acknowledge. As a people we are staunch devotees of prettification, remember? And suddenly here she is, in the dark of the cinema hall, near-bare, angry and unstoppable. And her whole attitude, we notice, is akin to the upright middle finger. It is just your kind of luck that it is pointed at you.
In Ishqiya, Krishna barely talks, let alone relates, to anyone in the village except the recently arrived guests. She is a loner. Her expressions flit between stony anger and a sensuous availability. And both seem exchangeable. She frequently gives short, tight slaps to her men, husband or lover.
It is not just that Krishna is constantly plotting and manipulating and playing one lover against the other. She is also shown associating with guns, revolvers and knives. Throughout the movie, weapons of mass destruction gravitate towards her. She pulls people towards her by their shirt scruffs. There is a constant violence in her in the way she stares, even if it is at the middle distance.
And, of course, Krishna is hot. Her backless choli, her undone hair and a strange, heavy physical presence lend her an earthy individuality rarely seen in Bollywood Female Characters.
In short, Krishna goes against the grain of Bollywood womanhood. And, in a strange, Ishqiya-kind-of-twist, it so happens that Vidya Balan is not the typical Bollywood heroine either. Forget the fact that she is from Palghat in Kerala in terms of her racial stock. The real thing is how those south Indian Brahminical genes contribute to the breaking of the zero-figure mould of Bollywood hot heroines.

Indian audience’ has matured and is now accepting films like Dev.D. This acceptance will only strengthen the conviction of the new age directors. Animation movies have a great market in India. We have seen that with the recent ‘Avatar’. For now, the animation we see in India is mostly imported; I see animation and 3D films becoming a big source of entertainment in the future. Indian audience goes to the theatres for the cinematic experience. With more and more 3D films being made in the future, piracy will come under control. People won’t like to see a 3D movie at home and miss out on the visual effect they can enjoy in a theatre”
Bollywood Hot Actress Vidya Balan, who was named the 'Best Actor of the Year - Female' for her role as Auro's mother, said "I am very happy to receive this award. This film is very special to me."
